Today, has been a busy one. Meetings this morning and then after much pressure from the wife, I did the tip run. The back garden is now clear (ready for the winter!) And now my back is in agony.
I don't like baths, never have. Swishing around in dirty water doesn't appeal but I had to try and relieve the pain (I'm pretty much anti medication and apparently 1630hrs is too early for alcohol?) so off I headed - radox at the ready. So I relax for a bit, as much as you can when you're surrounded by bath books, plastic fish, nets, water pistols, jugs and rubber ducks. Wifey starts cooking and decides to bring our toddler upstairs for me to entertain (contain in the bathroom!) This worked out OK, because little one decided to pack all the toys away (throw them around the bathroom but hey, they're not all around the bath anymore) Just as I start to relax.... 'where are the mushrooms and onions?'
Oh feck - still in the supermarket! Trouble ahead. Now if I'm expected to remember everything on the list, I need to be sent shopping armed with a pen! Don't list 50+ items and expect me to remember what I have put in the trolley!
I jump out of the bath (Fear is a great distraction from the pain!) grab my clothes (Which little one has helpfully chucked all over the bathroom along with the toys) and head to the supermarket. straight to the veg aisle, then I hear 'excuse me, you dropped an e' I continue with my shopping, clearly they're not talking to me...
cue little old lady waving a yellow foam letter E 'you dropped an e!' I accept the e off the little old lady, turn to thank her as she continues on her way....And there I notice in a trail behind me half the bloody alphabet. OK, slight exaggeration but another 3 letters. Looking around and wondering if anyone suspects that I am the letter dropper, I have to decide quickly whether I walk away quickly or retrace my steps and pick up any other letters that may have fallen from my clothes. My toddler does not know the alphabet, will they miss the letters? I can't risk it. I go back, grabbing them as I go.. then cooly walk to the self check out.
There could have been more.. do I ask at customer services if they've been handed in, get them to put out an announcement? I head home with the retrieved letters in my pocket. What now, do I put up a post on Spotted Torquay?
Only tomorrow will tell if the missing letters are noticed, if indeed there were any.
After a lovely dinner, which the wife decided no longer required mushrooms and onions (!!!!)
I started working on a new project, so stay tuned for an exciting announcement.
